Well the old Wanscam web cam finally gave up the ghost and now resides in the junk box.
I had a feeling that this would happen because of the increasing number of times it crashed recently.
The new Huacam camera that was on test has now replaced the old one and does seem a lot more reliable.
I don’t suppose I can complain as it only cost about £30 and has been operating for around 18 months 24/7.
The equipment at the heart of Batley Weather is a Davis Vantage Pro2 Personal Weather Station.
The image below shows the Integrated Sensor Suite or ISS (not to be confused with the other ISS – the International Space Station)
Of course the ISS can only monitor the weather conditions and to be able to store and display the data the console is also needed.
The ISS and Console is all that is required to monitor the weather and produce a local forecast.
However, a data logger and software is also required if the station is to be connected to a computer.
Add to these items a few more bits of software, a PC and some internet and there we have it.
